When Advent UMC first began to worship as a church (1982), it gave away the first two offerings ever received to community groups in need. That sharing symbolizes our desire to reach into the world, beyond the walls of our church, helping to meet the needs of God’s people through local and world-wide outreach. Today our tradition of giving generously of our resources and our time to people in need is stronger than ever.
Advent UMC reaches out to the local, regional and international communities in various ways. The Outreach Team selects and manages several projects that provide opportunities to members and friends of all ages to be personally involved. The Outreach Team also selects the recipients of special offerings taken every Christmas and Easter, and occasionally other times throughout at the year. Other groups within Advent also organize their own outreach programs, such as Emma’s Circle, MACS (Men About Christian Service), youth, and children.
