Funeral

Celebration of Life

Advent UMC desires to walk with people through all the stages of life. While most stages of life are times of celebration, the death of a loved one can be a time of deep pain and grief. It is at times of loss that we, the people of Advent, offer the gift of community and the assurance of faith to those who mourn.

This is why we call our funeral services a Celebration of Life. For in the Church, we cannot speak of death without witnessing to the resurrection. As Jesus taught us when he said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though they die. Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25ff)

Our pastoral staff is committed to minister to the spiritual needs of the grieving while helping them attend to the tasks of planning a service. Our role is to help you find comfort for your grief and the support of a loving community. The most important aspect of this process is working with you to discover what best bears witness to the person we mourn while proclaiming the hope of resurrection to you.
