Insights Women’s Book Study - Fall Selection

Insights Women’s Book Group meets quarterly and is open to all Advent women. 

The fall selection is This Tender Land.  This coming-of-age story by William Kent Krueger, is a companion to his earlier work Ordinary Grace.  Set in southern Minnesota, the story opens in the summer of 1932 at the Lincoln Indian Training School, a fearsome place.  Two white brothers, Odie and Albert, break out of the school along with their Indian friend Mose and Emmy, a little girl they befriend.  The four orphans set off to find a better life, although their path is uncertain.  Over the course of a summer, they encounter many others who are adrift in Depression-era America.  Their physical odyssey parallels a spiritual journey that each character takes in his or her own way.
